This year, EHS hired former student and current head wrestling coach, Miles Cleveland, as the new industrial arts teacher. This will be Cleveland’s first year in the classroom as a teacher.
“I want to make sure the kids walk out with more than they walked in with and hopefully all of their fingers as well,” Cleveland said.
Woodworking has always been something Cleveland has enjoyed. From his early days as a high school student under the direction of Mr. Hofer, to his reversed role as the director, he’s always had a passion for it and is excited to bring that passion out to new students. Although teaching is new to him in a classroom setting, Cleveland has had a lot of experience working as a teacher/mentor in other places. Being a wrestling coach for four years, he finds it easy to communicate with young people and kids.
“Good friends of mine said, ‘you’ve been a teacher, just not in a classroom setting,’”. Cleveland said.
When asked about his outlook for the wrestling season, Cleveland was optimistic. With strong leaders returning and a hefty group of freshmen, he’s looking forward to what the team can do. Choosing to teach at Eudora was an easy decision for Cleveland
“I’ve lived here my whole life,” Cleveland said. “It’s a great community to grow up in.”
