“Hollow Knight: Silksong” was first hinted at all the way back in 2019, but after a year and a lot of delays, the fans died down a lot. But now in 2025, the game is in the running to be the game of the year that replicates the artstyle and feeling that “Hollow Knight” has.
Silksong is a well-expanded world with the addition of new enemies, but it is not all perfect. Silksong is faster paced than the original and the enemies are more aggressive to match that style. The creators of the game say that you should play “Hollow Knight” before playing Silksong, and I agree. It helps a lot with all the returning gimmicks and abilities that are used a lot, and playing a slower-paced game will help you learn the abilities and spells to prepare for Silksong’s pace.
In Silksong, we play as Hornet and explore this new kingdom, one that is older than the last game. This is the place where the Spider Tribe started. Silk in the title talks about a spider’s silk, which can be made into a story using the magic within the silk and skilled hands. There is a charter named Midwife who says, “Amazing things the weavers once crafted on their looms; stories, shields, spells.” In Hollow Knight, we find lots of their story. We don’t know what they are about. We can speculate, but in Silksong, we can understand that we will learn more about this kingdom and the spider tribes’ past.
