When a single mom needs a job to pay for her daughter’s snow boarding school. She finds an opening at a ski resort, only problem, the opening is for a male Santa Clause role. “My Secret Santa” is a new Christmas movie on Netflix. A Hallmark-style romantic comedy with a “Mrs. Doubtfire”-esque premise. It focuses on the Christmas spirit, the challenges people face during the holidays and unexpected love. If you love a good corny Christmas romance movie, then you will love this film.
The movie has everything you can expect from a cheesy holiday romance. From the cringey pick up lines to the conventionally attractive male lead/love interest. The film is full of Christmas festivity with comedic moments. It has many classic side characters like Jimmy, an ecstatic employee at the resort played by Dominic Fox who befriends the female lead Taylor, who is played by Alexandra Breckenridge.
While the film is warm hearted and festive, you might not enjoy it if corny romances aren’t your thing. The movie script is predictable with many unrealistic moments. The writing is cheesy and makes the movie kind of hard to watch. The acting is mediocre and makes you think you’re watching a Hallmark movie. The comedic moments are just the same unfunny jokes used in any other corny romance movie. The film seems to pale in comparison to other classic Christmas movies.
